Getting to Know RCC! Maggie Keech Speaks With Us!

Your Name: Magdalena (Maggie) Keech

Why are you at Roosevelt? I started coming to Roosevelt with my mom, and decided to become a member a few months ago. I see something in Roosevelt—a real potential to make an impact in this city and spread the Word of God. They have a good understanding of God’s Word and a passion for sharing it. I love the diversity in the church and how much it involves itself in the surrounding community. They understand the importance of the Arts in society, and how influential they can be. They try hard to meet the people where they need to be met, in the places and walks of life they’re in, which I believe is such an important role for the church. Roosevelt is a church that seeks God’s truth, and truly desires to bring that truth to all people. I’m excited to start serving at Roosevelt and furthering the Gospel alongside my new church family.

How long have you been here? It’s been about 2 years since I started attending Roosevelt.

How long have you been a Christian? Like many people I know who grew up in the church, I’m not sure exactly when I became a Christian. However, I know that sometime in my early teen years, I came to understand more and more what it meant to live for Christ, and I think around that time is when I truly became a Christian.

Tell us something interesting we should know about your life as a Christian: I’m still discovering the talents God has given me, and His plan for my life. I know that He works all things together for His glory, and I’m excited and prayerfully waiting to see how He will use my life, and eventually my talents, to serve His purposes and further His kingdom.

Where are you from? I was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ.

What's your job? I’m currently working at a frozen yogurt shop.

What are your hobbies? I usually spend my free-time with family and friends, watching one of my favorite TV shows, hanging out at a coffee shop, reading, or visiting someplace new.

Name two things on your bucket list? I want to visit Old Havana someday, and own a vintage car.

Your favorite book? There’s too many to name, but some of my top favorites are: On the Road by Jack Kerouac, Coraline by Neil Gaiman, Always Running by Luis Rodriguez, or anything by Daniel Handler.

Your favorite movie? Probably Heathers. I love 80’s films.
